On May 18th – 31st, 2011, several Indianapolis area schools, including Carmel High, Clay Middle, Guerin Catholic, and The Orchard School will conduct locker clean-outs. Children will donate pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, and spiral notebooks. NuAfrica volunteers will collect and distribute these items to thousands of American and African children who have no school supplies. Indianapolis distribution will take place through School on Wheels. African distribution will take place personally on our July 23rd Mali, Africa trip.

5-Year-Old Garyn, watched this video about How WATER CHANGES EVERYTHING.
He was moved and inspired to make a STAND4WATER. On July 4th weekend, Saturday 2011, at the Noblesville, IN farmer’s market, Garyn sold cups of water. His efforts raised awareness of the water problem and collected over $800 donations. 100% of the proceeds he made will help dig solar-powered Well #2 in Mali, Africa this year. Thank you Garyn and Supporters for changing over 100 lives forever. Instead of walking for dirty water, villagers will be able to go to the Badinko Village School tap, turn it on, and get clean water. Thousands of people, just like us, will be healthier. Women and children will have more time to attend school, grow food, take care of family, and work towards achieving their hopes and dreams.

On July 23 – 31, 2011, a NuAfrica team of twenty-six volunteers made another life-changing journey to Bamako city and Badinko village in Mali. We participated in every day life with villagers, shared an incredible two hours with the First Lady of Mali, Madame Toure - agreeing on future collaborative efforts, assisted Ginny Roberts of – Purdue University Keep America Beautiful – in planting seeds, and donated 20,000 dresses to benefit two villages. We were privileged indeed to experience the third world life of remote Africa and pure-hearted Africans, untouched by western civilization. A container full of Locker Clean-out supplies and well-drilling equipment will soon follow in September; the contents will be used at Badinko’s straw school and dig a solar-powered clean water well to benefit the school children.
EVERY DAY ALMOST A BILLION PEOPLE struggle to collect water. Many times, the water is dirty. Dirty water kills more people each year than all forms of violence, including war. The 2010 Drill4Water proceeds dug a well saving 3,000 African men, women, and children from disease and death. Now, these villagers will spend the freed 4 hours a day growing vegetable gardens and attending school.
ON FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2011, please join Carmel Racquet Club and NuAfrica once again for Drill4Water, a Tennis and Wii event to fund a solar-powered well in Mali, Africa. It will be an excellent informal family evening of Tennis Drills with CRC pros or a Wii Tennis Tournament.
